Story Pirates
We tell stories. Stories written by kids. Stories about kids, and their schools, and their teachers.
We’ve been telling these stories as loudly as possible for the last eight years, and we’ve found that they come in all different lengths and languages. Some stories are about housecats that want to join the cheerleading squad, and some stories star watermelons that are secretly ninjas. Some are about wetting the bed, or becoming famous, or salami, or characters named Shanene and Captain Waffles; others still are love stories or stories of conquering seemingly insurmountable odds. Story Pirates puts these stories onstage because we believe they’re worth celebrating.
The stories that don’t make it to the stage, though, also deserve to be told. These are stories told by teachers of kids writing for the first time because of a Story Pirates in-school assembly, or of a principal who calls to say that even though she knows she will lose her job at the end of this school year, she wants to apply for a grant for the fall because she believes so firmly in the value of the arts for her students.
We all believe in Story Pirates and the role of the arts in a complete education. These are our stories. Join us in continuing to help tens of thousands of kids across the country tell theirs.
